What motivated you to write “The Assistant’s Playbook,” and what key insights do you hope readers will take away from it?

Kyerra: I wrote The Assistant’s Playbook to help others like me have another resource. I wanted to help people who want or need another source of income and don’t know where to start. I hope readers take away that they can be an entrepreneur if they want to. I want them to be motivated and actually learn the lessons I actually wish I knew while on this journey. It’s not just for inspiring assistants, but for anyone who wants to start a business.

What were the key steps you took to establish your personal assisting brand?

Kyerra: Some Key steps I took to establish my personal assistant brand was first find the right clients for me. Then thought about what I wanted my brand to represent then started to exemplify that with wardrobe, how I carried myself, social media of course. But mainly I always stayed true to myself. I started at the bottom doing little projects on Fiverr and upwork then started interning and working my way from there.

How has your role as a celebrity personal assistant contributed to your personal and professional growth over the years?

Kyerra: My role as a celebrity personal assistant has contributed to my personal life in a lot of ways. What are the common misconceptions about being a personal assistant, and how would you address them for someone new to the field?

Kyerra: A common misconception that I get about being an assistant is that we are at the bottom (we are the help) but people fail to realize, we play a major role in our clients life’s and they don’t look at us as the help, just the outsiders do. Another common misconception is that assistants aren’t needed, but in actuality everybody needs a little help.

What skills or qualities do you believe are essential for success in the personal assisting field?

Kyerra: Skills and qualities that are essential to being a personal assistant are being punctual, being organized, knowing verbal and written communication, being able to multitask, and detail oriented are the major ones.

What are you most proud of achieving so far?

Kyerra: I am most proud that I am a homeowner and an author. I’m blessed that I have been able to travel and see things across the world and I’m most proud of my client’s and their success.

What are your long-term goals for your personal assisting brand, and how do you plan to achieve them?

Kyerra: My long term goals is to have a successful agency where I can train and hire other assistants and keep the legacy going. Also write another book and maybe even make it into a non-profit and partner with other businesses. I plan on achieving it with God first, my mentors, and staying focused on the big picture.

Are there any new projects, initiatives, or collaborations you’re excited about and can share with us?

Kyerra: I will be teaching my very first class on how to be a personal/virtual assistant in person and will be offering the class online. I will be a part of a dope podcast coming out as well called the Perspectives and only God knows what else is next!

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their journey as a personal assistant and wants to excel in this career?

Kyerra: The advice I will tell someone starting in this journey is to 1. Buy my book because it will help you prevent a lot of mistakes that I made. 2. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged, your time is coming! 3. Have fun and maintain being who you are! 4. Don’t compare your success or timeline to anyone else’s.
